Spring
2007
_______________________________________________
Greetings Friends!
I’m very happy at the thought of spring,
and hope you all had a creative, peaceful winter.
I
spent four weeks in Victoria BC, during the month
of February, which consequently flew by very quickly.
Victoria is a beautiful city, and I really enjoyed
the magnificent scenery and opportunity to hike
through old growth forests, and along pristine
shorelines.
I sketched and took photographs
and sat quietly observing the ocean and sea birds,
filling myself up with wonderful inspiration for
future paintings.
I
attended yoga and Zen meditation classes and practiced
my mindfulness meditation. I really believe that
giving oneself the opportunity to be still and
in the moment, quieting the chatter of the mind,
enables one to align with one’s true creative
Self.
I have some exciting workshops, shows and trips
coming up in the next few months, which I discuss
in full detail below.
Have a very happy spring! I look forward to hearing
from you. Please contact me if you would like
to register for any of the workshops.
Best wishes,
Jill Segal

This exciting, process-oriented, course is for
developing artists who are ready to break free
and explore new directions in watercolour painting
and self-expression. You will be encouraged to
loosen up and explore the interesting effects
and textures created by combining watercolour
with various mixed media, such as water-soluble
crayons, oil pastels, collage materials (tissue,
oriental rice papers, old watercolour paintings
to recycle and resurrect), black ink, wax and
gouache.
Using still life, landscape and
non-objective subject matter, you will be inspired
to move beyond pure representation to personal
expression and abstraction. Composition and design
will be addressed.
Teaching methodology will include
demonstrations, group sharing, individual attention
and critique. Creativity, fun, and individual
uniqueness will be emphasized.

Segal, Kai Liis Mckinnes, Sue Forbes, Karen Sloan
I am excited about this show
as “water” is very dear to my heart.
Ever since childhood I have experienced a great
affinity to water. I love swimming and find that
being in water and close to water energizes me
and at the same time provides me with a great
sense of peace, well being, and inspiration.
Water is essential for life
of all living things, and it is imperative that
we conserve it and protect it, to ensure the continuity
of life.

Happy Spring
Everyone!
