Summer 2010
_______________________________________________
Greetings Friends,
I hope you are enjoying the warm, long summer days and taking time, to take in and appreciate the natural beauty that is all around. Have you had the opportunity to be still and to really see the magnificence of a flower or the myriad of greens and textures expertly painted, by "Mother Nature"?
Opportunities for creative inspiration and gratitude abound, if we would only take time to be still and observe.
“To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders” Lao Tzu
As Georgia O’Keefe said “Nobody sees a flower—really—it is SO small – we haven’t time—and to see takes time, like to have a friend takes time.”
I am including some of the scenes of inspiration that I have come across so far this summer. What joy!!!
Summer Workshop News
One of the highlights of my summer was teaching the course, Collage and Acrylic Explorations at the Haliburton School of the Arts. Once again, my class was filled with 17 wonderful, enthusiastic, inspiring participants and we had so much fun and shared so many things from discussions on creativity, to an abundance of intriguing "stuff" that could be used as collage. (Never throw anything out; it may be a wonderful addition to your collage work).
The Haliburton School of the Arts is a fantastic facility, offering all kinds of interesting creative courses in all the arts. It is a hive of creative energy for six weeks during the summer. Everyone who attends finds the courses and environment fun filled and stimulating: www.HaliburtonSchoolofTheArts.ca
I will be teaching a similar program at my studio this fall.
